Gearbox Refurbishment

KGW Precision provides a comprehensive gearbox service, from design and manufacture of precision gearboxes and accessories, to gearbox refurbishment and repair.

We can manufacture gearboxes, either bespoke design or to customers’ drawings, usually these range from 10-200kW with output speeds up to 15,000 RPM. Typical application would be a step-up gearbox for aircraft fuel pump and fuel control unit testing.

Our time served engineers are especially adept at gearbox refurbishment, where they will strip down and assess components, reverse engineer damaged gears and often advise on improvements to the gears before reassembling.

  • 10 to 200kW
  • Up to 15,000 rpm
  • Involute gear
  • Bevel gear
  • Belt driven
  • Chain and sprocket drives
  • Right angle
  • Multiple output shafts
  • Dynamic balancing (shaft gears & assembly)
  • Drive couplings
  • Drive shafts
  • Mounting adaptors
  • Motor/gearbox mounting frames
  • Lubrication systems

Fabrications

Fabrications are made on site to exacting dimensions to all different sizes.

All our fabricators are skilled engineers with many years experience. We can work, either from our own design drawings or those provided by our customers to precise dimensions using various welding techniques such has Mig, Tig & Arc. We can undertake projects of varying size from a small 150 mm holding fixture to a large 3 metre Motor Frame structure. A stress relieving service is available if required.

Prototype Work

At KGW Precision, we have the skill, commitment and the flexibility to be able to produce prototypes, one offs or short runs of components, products or assemblies for our clients.

Our in house design team are able to work closely with our clients to fully understand requirements and convert any outline sketches or thoughts into either a 2D or 3D CAD model. They will then work alongside our machining and manufacturing teams to communicate ideas and product adjustments extremely effectively, saving our customers both time and money in the process.

We have the capability to produce items in one-offs or multiple batches to your exact requirements.

Manifolds

KGW Precision have many years experience of Manifolds made from various materials such as Aluminium & Mild steel. Manifolds can be designed in house to customer specification or manufactured direct from customer drawings. Our engineers have a deep understanding of the flow of liquid or air with ports at compound angles if this expertise is required.

Spline Manufacture

Our highly skilled and experienced engineers are adept at designing and manufacturing spline tooling, including involute and straight sided splines, both internal and external.

Some applications require a custom spline profile to be manufactured and our highly experienced engineers have the necessary skills and expertise to manufacture splines to client specifications.

Refurbishment

Our comprehensive repair and refurbishment service breathes new life into the parts, components and assemblies that make up our client’s essential assets.

We have specialist expertise in gearbox refurbishment where we strip, evaluate and replace worn or broken parts to include new bearings, seals and shafts which are dynamically balanced where required.

As a result, production efficiency of our client’s asset is increased, machine reliability improved and the life of equipment extended, thereby improving asset performance and reducing operating costs.

Mechanical Assembly

KGW Precision's team of time-served precision engineers have the expertise to deliver the complete mechanical assembly solution, from design all the way through to machine tooling and final assembly.

We assemble according to our client’s exact specifications and to the highest quality standards. All of our assemblies are closely checked and tested on completion to ensure they always perform to our client’s expectations.

KGW Precision takes great pride in ensuring high levels of quality, reliability and consistency for all of our assembly projects.
